Dr. Eliphas Gitonga Makunyi is a lecturer in Kenyatta University, in the school of healthsciences. He has Doctor of Philosophy in reproductive health (Kenyatta University) and is a post-doctoral fellow with International Union of Scientific study of Populations (IUSSP) where he was the principal Investigator for Urban Family planning among Marginalized and vulnerable refugee Women. Eliphas holds Master of Public health (Kenyatta University),MSc. Medical physiology (University of Nairobi) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Moi University).  He has worked as consultant for WHO, AMREF, Tangaza University, Nursing Council of Kenya, FAIMER, Kwame Nkurumah University of technology, Africa Christian Association Platform (ACHAP), Global Monitoring and Evaluation Network, Dedan Kimathi University of technology and Mama Ngina University College.  He has published in areas of specialization and presented papers in peer reviewed conferences. He is a post graduate external examiner for Agha Khan University and Maseno University. He lectures in both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes with main areas being reproductive Health, maternal health, child health, adolescent health, monitoring/evaluation and medical physiology. He is registered with Nursing Council of Kenya as a Nurse/Midwife. Eliphas is a member of Population Association of America (PAA), International Society of Urban health (ISUH), International Union of Scientific study of populations (IUSSP).
