The department was established in 2016 as one of the two departments in the School of Nursing. The department is responsible for undergraduate courses in Neonatology, Midwifery, Community & Public Health, Oncology, Anatomy, Psychiatry, Nutrition, Medical Sociology & Anthropology, Gender & Health and Gerontology Nursing. The areas of specialization for the Master of Science students  include Midwifery, Oncology, Mental Health & Psychiatry, and Community Health Nursing.
