The department was established in 2004, after Senate approval. The department offers the course of Human Anatomy to Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery students, in their 1st year of study. The department also services departments of Pharmacy and Complimentary Medicine respectively.

Entry Requirements/Pre-requisites for MBchB course
Candidates shall have met the minimum University and School of Health Sciences entry requirements.
Objectives
To produce graduates who are responsive to changing needs of this country as, medical experts communities, resource managers, scholars, researchers and self-reflective medical practitioners.
To demonstrate excellent proficiency in communication skills, diagnosis, treatment, practical procedures, prevention of diseases, and promotion of health and rehabilitation
To inculcate in graduates interest in research and motivation to practice evidence bound medicine and apply best practices.
To help students acquire the knowledge and understanding of medical ethics and to respect the socio-cultural and economic factors in the communities they serve
To maintain a cooperative, supportive and a respectful learning environment at the School of Health Sciences
